Biography:
George has worked with Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres since 2004, when their fundraising team was in single figures and only two Centres were open. She was recruited by Maggie’s to develop and deliver their new flagship fundraising event, the Monster Bike & Hike. Monster is now in its 8th successful year and George has missed only two – due to giving birth on the event date twice! She has previously worked in Bristol, London & Chicago, mainly in advertising/marketing/project management roles but also with a stint for the British Government promoting the UK to US businesses.

Maggie’s Monster Bike & Hike is Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres’ flagship Scottish fundraising event, raising around £500k each year from an average of 600 participants. In this session, George will outline the event’s origins, how it has grown, the partnerships involved, the lessons learnt and the challenges faced during its first seven years.
