Andrew Muirhead
Organisation: Inspiring Scotland
Biography:
Andrew has been CEO of Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland since 1996. His strategic leadership has led to the development of four grant programmes, including one delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government to tackle the effects of drug and alcohol misuse in young people.
More recently Andrew has led the development and launch of Inspiring Scotland. This venture philanthropy organisation is an exciting new way of using money and skills to help Scotland’s most vulnerable people. Its first Fund aims to deliver £7-10 million a year over the next 7-10 years for work targeted at 14-19 year olds who are struggling to make a successful transition from school to the next stage of their lives. Currently a sub-set of the Foundation, Inspiring Scotland will spin out at the end of 2008, taking Andrew with it as CEO.
Other major successes include overseeing the development and spin out of Evaluation Support Scotland, which works across Scotland increasing the effectiveness of organisations, and taking a strategic role in brokering resources and developing the Turnaround project which works with offenders.
Andrew is married to Jan and they have three sons. A keen traveller, Andrew also enjoys golf, football and cycling.

Inspiring Scotland is a new Venture Philanthropy organisation being developed by Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland in a strategic partnership with public, private and voluntary sectors. The session will share learning from the first fund which will start to invest in Scottish charities from November 2008.
