Mafe Marwick came to THINK from CHILDREN 1ST where she had been for 10 years, most recently as their Director of Fundraising and Communications. She is a well respected practitioner responsible for leading an award winning team in all activities to raise voluntary income and awareness of CHILDREN 1ST. Her fundraising career started in 1993 at ChildLine where she was responsible for fundraising in the East of Scotland. She has over 20 years experience in the voluntary sector.Mafe has consistently increased fundraising income for the charities she worked for, achieving over a 50% increase in net income by the time she left CHILDREN 1ST. Until October 2010, Mafe was the Chair of the Institute of Fundraising in Scotland.

While globalisation gives us access to knowledge and charities from the whole world, it is bringing with it the wish for donors to support more local projects. This session will look at how we can create local communities of support and engagement around the services and projects we fundraise for, while responding to the challenge of competing with charities all over the world.
