Organisation: Moffat Charitable Trust

Biography:

Following university, Jamie joined A.T. Mays, the travel agents, the company founded by his parents Jim and Margie Moffat. He gained experience in various branches and departments within the Head Office in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, before becoming Retail Director in 1981 and then Managing Director in 1987. The company was sold to The Royal Bank of Scotland in 1990 and then subsequently to the American company, Carlson Travel Network. Jamie left A.T. Mays in 1996 and, a year later with his father, formed ATM Travel when they acquired the original Head Office branch of A.T. Mays based in Hamilton Street, Saltcoats.

The Moffat Charitable Trust was formed in 1999 following the death of Jim Moffat and is based within this office in Saltcoats. Jamie is its Chairman and the other Trustees are his mother, Margie Moffat, and Maureen Donnelly. The Trust supports many organisations and projects throughout Scotland and the UK under the general categories of Children/Young People, Care, Community, Education/Training and Sport/Art. In the last fiscal year, the Trust donated in excess of £3 million to over 200 worthwhile causes.
